| Abstract: | 'This is the first edition of Statistics on the Information Society in Europe. This publication uses data from the recent pilot enterprise survey on e-commerce. It uses for the first time data from the Information Society Questionnaire which is a collection of data provided by Member States and Candidate countries on a voluntary but less harmonised basis. The publication also brings together extracts from several general Eurostat data sources in so far as they concern information and communication technologies, notably Structural Business Statistics, external trade and the Labour Force Survey.
