Citavi
The University Library has licensed the reference management software Citavi. University members can use the full version free of charge.
The campus license for the literature management program Citavi expires on 31 March 2024 and will not be extended due to the current provider conditions.

Download and installation
Install Citavi 6
Citavi 6 is a cloud version. You can save your projects locally or you can save them in the Citavi cloud.
You can open and edit projects, which you saved to the cloud, on different computers. Citavi 6 is a good option if you want to work on projects with a team.
Please note:
You do not need to upgrade to Citavi 6 – you can continue working with Citavi 5. For OpenOffice and LibreOffice, the add-in for Citavi 6 is not available yet.
How to install Citavi 6 for Windows:
- Download the installation file.
- Go to http://www.citavi.com/uni-mannheim and create a personal Citavi account.
- Start Citavi 6 and login to your Citavi account. Citavi takes the license information from your account.

Upgrading from an older version to Citavi 6
Please start by reading the information on new features, changed features and the upgrade process.
Please note:
You do not need to upgrade to Citavi 6 – you can continue working with Citavi 5. For OpenOffice and LibreOffice, the add-in for Citavi 6 is not available yet.
Please uninstall the older Citavi version, if you decide on an upgrade. Your projects and settings will not be affected by this. Install Citavi 6 and login to your personal Citavi account. The start assistant in Citavi 6 will help you to transfer your old projects to the new version.
